I studied Fine Arts at the University of Toronto. My specialized area was in drawing, although I tried for painting. The good thing about how things turned out is that drawing forms the basis of all my art. It took me longer to settle into the lifestyle of making art than I hoped. But what helped me the most is the creative drive from childhood. This is a gift because I continue to create art regardless of obstacles.
There are a number of artistic concepts that I explore in my work. How to find cross-overs between realistic and abstract and storytelling either with one or a series of paintings. My poetry is a parallel study of the use of story. My years spent doing custom carpentry inform both technique and topic of art pieces.
Recently I have traded the more difficult work of building for the less stressful designing of handmade jewelry. I am also an avid gardener and design of gardens which includes garden sculpture or installations. With such a diverse background, I blog about various subjects.
Starting May 2012 “myartshow” is only about art work. My other blog teachingmyselftowrite.wordpress.com is my short stories, poems and reports about what I think are interesting people and things.
