Abstract in Nature

This group of paintings are all acrylic on canvas or wood.  “Flowers and Bugs of My Summer” (a 1999 painting revised 2010) is more of a mixed media piece with photography, garden string, dried flower petals and bugs!. I didn’t put the bugs on the painting. The lingering smell of the flower petals attracted them into the painting.

The triptych is about kelp in the sand on the seashore. The first panel is the kelp on the sand, the second is when the tide took the kelp away and left an impression. The third panel is later after many tides wash away the pattern.

The paintings from Strathcona Park and Great Central Lake in British Columbia are “en plen air”. One of my favorite methods of painting.
